Postnatal Support

Calm Connections

You are home with your baby!

The most magical time in the world. All the waiting (and worrying) is over and a whole new chapter begins.

Googling things at 2am while feeding your baby and feeling like no one else in the world is awake. And yes, it’s completely normal to Google “newborn poo” that many times in the first week! When something in their routine suddenly changes and you don’t know what or why. When breastfeeding isn’t going the way you thought it would and you’re not sure what to do. And when you’re given unwanted, unasked-for advice by everyone you meet, which makes you question everything you’ve been doing — and everything you want to do.

And then you find me.

I’m here to take away as much of that worry as possible and help you feel calm, confident and connected to your baby. I absolutely love the newborn stage. I understand how newborns work, and my passion is helping you understand that too, so you can enjoy these early moments as much as possible instead of feeling overwhelmed by them.

I’m not a traditional postnatal doula in that I don’t offer light housework or run errands. What I do offer is practical, supportive guidance when you need it most. This includes support with newborn sleep and routines, breastfeeding support, advice for your healing and recovery, baby massage and reflexology to support your baby’s development, supplement suggestions and more. Most importantly, I’m there to listen to you and truly hear you.

And if you have Carrot through work, I’m one of their approved postnatal doulas.

Calm Connections – Settling In £1,980

PURCHASE PACKAGE

My focus with this package is to support you through the first six weeks after your baby arrives, which can often be the most worrying time for new parents. My aim is to calm and reassure you, while helping you understand how your baby experiences the world. When you understand what newborn behaviour is really like, you realise that what your baby is doing is usually completely normal — and exactly what a newborn should be doing.

So often we’re sold a version of baby life that isn’t realistic. We’re encouraged to buy all sorts of products and follow routines that expect babies to behave more like adults. But newborns simply don’t work that way.

This is a 15-hour package, made up of a pregnancy planning session and six weekly home visits (postcode depending), designed to support you as you adjust to life with your new baby. Even if this isn’t your first baby, every baby is unique, and what worked with one child can feel completely different with the next.

The first session is a two-hour planning session, ideally during your third trimester. This can take place face-to-face or on Zoom and helps me get a sense of you, your family, and how you hope to approach parenting. And if you’re not sure yet, that’s absolutely fine. During this session we might talk about where you think your baby will sleep, your breastfeeding hopes, who may be around to support you (if anyone), how supported you feel by your midwifery team, and anything else that feels important as you prepare to welcome your baby.

If your workplace offers Carrot fertility and family benefits, you may also be able to access this support through your employer, as I am one of Carrot’s approved postnatal doulas.

The sorts of things I will help you with, as every family is unique are:

  • Being a listening ear for you to talk about anything you want to
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Baby massage & reflexology
  • Massage & reflexology for you
  • Recovery and healing advice (nutritional therapy and more)
  • About the newborn brain
  • Newborn sleep

PURCHASE PACKAGE

This is a more extensive 23-hour package, building on the Settling In package, where I support you and your baby throughout the fourth trimester. My aim is to calm and reassure you while helping you understand how your baby experiences the world. When you understand newborn behaviour, you begin to see that what your baby is doing is usually completely normal — and exactly what a newborn should be doing.

So often we’re sold an unrealistic version of life with a baby. We’re encouraged to buy products and follow routines that expect babies to behave more like adults. But newborns simply don’t work that way.

With this package, I support you during those important early months so that by around 3–4 months, you feel more settled, confident and in a rhythm with your baby. To help you get there, I will visit you once a week for the first 12 weeks (postcode depending), providing guidance, reassurance and practical support as you navigate this new stage of life.
